Julie was a healthy, post-menopausal woman in my care who came in for a periodic health examination. One of my routine questions, in what is called the “Review of Systems”, was to ask if she had experienced any vaginal bleeding.
She said “No” but then laughed and added, “Other than when my period came back for a few months last year”.
All health care professional are taught early on that ‘vaginal bleeding in a post-menopausal woman is Cancer of the Uterus until proven otherwise’. This comment by Julie was, therefore, a red flag (no pun intended) prompting further questions, an examination and an ultrasound of her pelvis.
Julie was surprised to see me so concerned, especially since the symptoms had not recurred over many months.
Sure enough, a pelvic ultrasound and tissue sampling confirmed Cancer of the Uterus.
Julie underwent a hysterectomy and radiation therapy. She is now healthy, cancer-free and is expected to stay that way.
After all this was done, Julie sat ME down for a talk. She told me she’d had no idea a ‘short return’ of her period after menopause was a danger signal. Furthermore, she addressed the topic with friends over coffee and discovered that, out of 20 women, NONE of them knew this symptom was abnormal! She admonished me to “Tell women this! Don’t assume we know it!”
From that day on, I have kept Julie’s advice in mind when talking with post-menopausal patients. But recently my wife suggested that I should take this to a wider audience.
So, Julie, this is for you:
If you are a post-menopausal woman and your period ‘comes back’ or you have even one episode of vaginal bleeding, TELL A HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL and insist on having it investigated!

Anyways, I think I’m going to play around with different art styles and painting techniques for the next attacks I do because I’m having a BLAST experimenting. Like this one the shading really reminds me of fresco and renaissance paintings for some reason 😭 also included the version without all the overlays

Requiem has some sort of a chronic illness. It’s incurable, and she’s always had it. Having a creator whose spark has been tainted by a substance as toxic to Cybertronian life such as dark energon will tend to do that. When Requiem’s spark was first kindled, it was subsequently tainted by the presence of dark energon during the merge. She has permanent dark energon exposure symptoms that will worsen over time before going back to being virtually undetectable after treatment. Rinse and repeat.
Her symptoms include extreme fatigue, disorientation, dizziness, loss of temperature regulation systems, loss of balance, and loss of coordination during the peak of its effects. Since her spark is slightly tainted by dark energon, it slowly affects the rest of her energon supply as the normal energon attempts to neutralize it- which fully isn’t possible due to the nature of her spark. As a result, her energon could be used as an indicator for how close to having an “attack” she is as the higher the level of dark energon exposure, the more purple her blood is.
When an attack occurs, her systems have to be fully flushed by a transfusion of fresh energon while she’s hooked up to machinery to externally regulate her systems. When this happens, she’s quarantined to the medbay until treatment is complete and she shows no symptoms of dark energon exposure. She despises it. This also includes keeping away a certain someone because of how he practically gives off a dark energon signature like an irradiated object- albeit far more subtly to where his presence NORMALLY wouldn’t be too big of an issue.
It’s debilitating when she’s younger, but she adapts and gets more accustomed to dealing with it as she gets older to where it’s just another routine as annoying as it is. Of course some days are worse than others, but she makes do with it.

OHOHOHOHO THAT LAST PART HAD ME HOWLING BECAUSE YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.
I think they do show affection around her, but it’s in a more subtle and “classy” sort of way and absolutely not like the OTHER couple onboard the Nemesis’ methods at all.
Knockout and Breakdown are definitely that obnoxious PDA couple who are no different than that one high school couple that blocks the lockers or hallway to make out in the middle of passing period. Absolutely insufferable. Yes, those two flirt with each other in the middle of surgery and it makes Starscream want to die as he can’t escape.
Meg and Soundwave though? Theirs usually involves Meg reciting poetry like the theater kid he is, with Soundwave listening intently, fingers intertwined. They DO however, have their insufferable moments every once in a while.
